We have a friend. We haven’t seen much of him or really any of him at all…except for an occasional chalky deposit he leaves on our road. He’s honestly the best neighbor we have. He keeps rabbits down and works on a shift that we don’t mind. And really, he prefers to keep to himself. This is our bobcat. He is aptly, if uncreatively, named Bob.

Bob in all actuality is likely a lady who overwintered with us and is now on the move plus a juvenile that has found these hunting grounds to be pretty nicely stocked. She seems to have moved on for now; we’ll see how long he stays.
He’s really taken to traversing one path as an ambush spot for rabbits. CLASSIC bobcat behavior. Also, he loves to go up our logging road where we’ve had several does and fauns moving about lately. While a bobcat, particularly a juvenile, wouldn’t likely go for a blacktailed mule deer doe, a faun is a very achievable dream (maybe not quite yet for our juvenile, but dreams start in youth).
Regardless, it’s pretty fun getting to see the very spotted juvenile running a very specific trail hunting for rabbits via our trail cameras.
